Ryann Rumsey, Sophia Smith and Bryce White delivered runner-up finishes to propel Oklahoma City University to a third-place showing in the Sooner Athletic Conference women's wrestling championships Saturday at the Sid Richardson Center.

Eight Stars earned all-conference honors – Avery Ashley at 116 pounds, Alana Garcia (109) and Eseta Sepeni (191) finished third at their respective weights, while Iby Garcia (116) and Morgan Mackey (136) came in fourth.

Oklahoma City, ranked 17th in the NAIA, compiled 101 points as nine Stars placed in the tournament. OCU's Nadia Alejandres finished sixth in the 109-pound division. Texas Wesleyan took the conference title.

Rumsey went 4-1 on the day with an 11-0 victory over Lily Myers of Central Christian (Kan.) in the 191-pound third-place match. Rumsey, a junior from Moore, Okla., studying criminal justice, pinned Shawna Daniels from Jarvis Christian (Texas) in 1:25. Rumsey picked up second place by injury default against her teammate Sepeni.

Smith pinned Tess Barnett of Wayland Baptist (Texas) in 1:17 to snare runner-up at 123 pounds. Smith, a junior philosophy major from Janesville, Wis., stuck her quickest fall of the season in 17 seconds against Central Christian's Victoria Haggard. Smith fell short to Missouri Baptist's Karoline Ortiz 7-7 in the championship final. Smith (21-8) stands fourth in the NAIA rankings at her weight. She became a three-time all-SAC performer.

White finished second at 130 by no contest against Cassidy Anderson from Central Christian. White, a freshman from Antioch, Tenn., majoring in business administration, had fall against Erron Grimes from Wayland Baptist in 2:23. White holds the 15th spot in the 130-pound NAIA ratings.

The NAIA Championships will be held March 10-11 in Jamestown, N.D.
